Corrections policy

Things will be wrong here occasionally. When they are, they get fixed in the open.

How to report

Use the correction route on the contact form. Say which page, what is wrong, and — if you have it — what the correct information is and where it comes from.

What happens

• Acknowledged within two working days.
• Checked against the source. If the source was wrong, the ledger entry is updated too.
• Factual error: corrected, with a dated note at the foot of the article saying what changed.
• Significant error: corrected, noted, and the claim marked disputed in the ledger until re-verified — which flags every other page using it.
• Typo or broken link: fixed quietly, no note needed.

What is not done

Articles are not deleted to make an error disappear, and corrections are not made silently on anything substantive. If a piece is withdrawn entirely, the page stays up with an explanation of why.

Right of reply

If you are named or identifiable in something published here and you believe it is unfair or inaccurate, say so through the same route. Requests involving privacy or a photograph of you are treated as urgent — see photo rights.
